The cards are described as eco-friendly sustainably-harvested yellow birch on the basis that no water and little power are used because wood is sliced thin to produce a large number of unique products from a small amount of raw material.   In addition, birch trees are indeed replanted. 

You can pick from love notes to holiday cheers and some are designed to resemble much like post cards which allows you to write your message on the back with pen, pencil or marker.  And because they’re made from wood, you may like to know that the wood grain actually varies from card to card, making each one 100% unique.
